An Assessment of the Effect of Rural Management on the Homecoming of the Imposed War Migrants (Case Study: War Stricken City of Sarpolzahab)

Abstract

On the one hand, rural migration is affected by different factors, and, on the other, it leads to various consequences challenging human society. Hence, assessment of the causes and outcomes of these migrations and analyzing the relationship among them play vitally important roles in helping the planners of this field. War contains one of these causes resulting especially in the displacement of the local population, particularly the villagers. Rural management plays a great role in the immigrants’ homecoming and must be thoroughly investigated. The statistical population of this study includes returned rural migrants of Zarrinjub, Dastak Ulya, Sarableh and Tappeh Rashklashi in Sarpolzahab. A questionnaire was used as data collection tool. As the number of the community was limited, all of them were selected as the sample containing 150 people. The questionnaire consisted of 23 questions whose reliability was confirmed by Cronbach's formula as 0.81, and its validity was confirmed by academic experts. This descriptive-analytic research using eight-point Likert management style index, investigated the role of rural management in encouraging and motivating the homecoming of the migrants in a number of war-torn villages of Sarpolzahab. None of the five indicators showed 3 or more, and most were between 2 and 3, and decision making was less than 2. As a result, management styles have to be conducted through different dimensions in order to affect the process positively and reach at higher levels and divert from a commanding approach into partnership. However, assessment of the relationship between the style of dealing with the migrants and their satisfaction, there is a positive correlation (0.645) between the two variables of this study.  That is, there is a direct correlation between the method of dealing with immigrants and their satisfaction.
